Dynamic PDFs

In recent months, we have been helping a few clients integrate dynamic PDFs into their Storyline courses with the use of JavaScript. Have you considered this for your eLearnings?

A dynamic PDF can be used in numerous ways, but what is most attractive is that the learner walks away with a personalized download, specifically based on their work or selections from the training. This really helps promote transfer from training to workplace.

Here are three examples of how we have been using dynamics PDFs recently:

As a real-world workplace tool embedded into the eLearning.Learners advance through the training and are prompted to enter text and make selections. Examples include entering the name of a real-world account, choosing real stakeholders to contact, and crafting actual messages they will send to stakeholder targets. At the end of the training, the learner downloads a personalized PDF that they can immediately use with their customers (as all the pre-work was already completed during the course.)

As a stand-alone workplace tool. The tool above was so well received that the client requested we create a secondary stand-alone version, removed from the course material. This way, upon completing the training, the learner could always launch an online version of the tool (which we delivered as a SCORM file), complete the work, and download a personalized PDF.

As personalized feedback based on survey results. In another case, our client created a multi-item survey. Learner choices from the survey yielded personalized “action items”, which was programmed into the eLearning as feedback. At the end of the training, the learner could download a personalized PDF which included their survey responses and their personalized action items.
