Revisiting existing courses to make them accessible is a lot of work, but it’s worth it.

Updated: Apr 28, 2023

Prioritizing accessibility is ideally something that is planned from the start of your course design. However, in practice, clients often revisit existing courses and realize there is room for improvement when it comes to making the course experience accessible for all learners. This is particularly the case as more and more clients are requesting accessible learning experiences from vendors.

We have been partnering with SunShower Learning to develop inclusion trainings that place accessibility features front and center. Part of this effort has involved updating existing trainings to improve the learner experience. This work has included revising visuals and color contrast, programming the course to offer a separate video track with audio descriptions, creating alternate accessible versions of all activities, updating course PDFs to align to WCAG 2.0 guidelines, and ensuring the entire course is navigable by screen reader.
